The Cisco NIM-ES2-4 is a Layer 2 Gigabit Ethernet switch module designed to plug into Cisco 4000-series ISR (Integrated Services Router) NIM slots, enabling you to add 4 × 10/100/1000 Mbps RJ-45 ports directly on the router chassis. With support for IEEE 802.3, IEEE 802.3u, and IEEE 802.3ab standards, it provides versatile connectivity for wired devices such as IP phones, wireless access points, servers or endpoints in a branch or enterprise access environment. This module also supports advanced Layer 2 features such as IEEE 802.1d (Spanning Tree Protocol), IEEE 802.1p class-of-service (CoS) marking, IEEE 802.1q VLAN tagging and IEEE 802.1X port-based authentication. Its compact single-wide form factor allows flexible insertion into the router, and thanks to Cisco IOS XE software compatibility, you can deploy it with the router’s management and services stack for a unified solution. Ideal for small to medium branches that require integrated switching and routing in one chassis.
